iPhone \"Duo\" Announced - Help With Reading Onscreen Text

Size: Small iPad-ish. Screen: Very cool. Price: Astronomical. Ready for the new iPhone Duo?

In case you missed it - and how could you have missed it? - Apple had it’s big show-and-tell event last week, and the star of the show (along with new Apple CEO John Ternus) was the new iPhone Duo.

I certainly haven’t seen on “in person” yet, but I’ve watched approximately 3,541 YouTube videos about it. (Give or take a few.) If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a link to a quick hands-on video: https://youtu.be/XRKjMvfYV0o?si=1zDUEvKTNsYrX7bm

With a base price of about $2,000 (and more for upgraded memory, etc.) I’m not sure who this phone is aimed at. My iPhone 17 is less than a year old, so I’m certainly not ready to upgrade. But… that time will come, as it always does. And when it does, here’s what I’m thinking: I already have the iPhone, and I also have an older iPad.

When it’s time, my thinking goes, why not replace both the iPhone and iPad for this new device? Unfolded, it’s just about the size of the current iPhone Mini. I usually use my iPad for reading books, watching videos and playing the occasional Solitaire card game.

By trading in both my old devices, I’d bring the price down to sometime reasonable, and I’d have both a new phone and iPad (and the iPad would have cellular internet connectivity, which my current one does not.)

A win-win? Maybe. How about you? When upgrade time comes along, will you consider the Duo? Let me know.

Video #2: Scam of the Week: Just Don’t Click It! 🤪

That email says it’s from the United States Postal Service—but is it really?

In this video, I’ll show you how to uncover the actual email address behind a sender’s name. This simple check can help you recognize fake delivery notices, phishing emails, and other online scams before you click a dangerous link or share personal information.

You’ll learn:

  • How to reveal the sender’s real email address

  • What suspicious details to look for

  • Why a professional-looking email can still be fake

  • How to mark a scam email as junk on your iPad or Mac

The demonstration is shown on an iPad, but you can use the same basic idea on your iPhone or Mac. Remember: never click a button or link in an unexpected message until you’ve checked where it really came from.

Remember: You can’t break it!
